My experience at Koi was nothing short of delightful. The steamed dumpling trio was a highlight, each piece bursting with flavor. “ My partner and I went for the Dim Sum (weekends only) to celebrate our anniversary. The selection is limited yet still had all the stuff we wanted. The Peeking Duck bao was our favorite, they surprised us with a complimentary dessert for the occasion. Service was great, chill vibe for brunch time. ”
“ My favorite Chinese restaurant in Evanston. Love the chicken curry and shrimp dumplings best. Great for takeout as well as dining in--love the atmosphere. Looks fancy, but you get a lot of food for the price. Friendly staff; very knowledgeable. ”
“ I've always wanted to try Koi and was so happy to dine there this Friday. We called ahead to put our names down as they said it would be a 15 min wait. We started off our meal with Shrimp dumplings which were amazing and well cooked. By checking in at Koi on Yelp you also get an appetizer on house! The kitchen was so backed up that our main course took around 25 mins. The lo-mein noodles were alright, nothing special. The sushi took another 10-15 mins to come out and we were not hungry so we tried a couple of pieces and packed up the rest. The sushi was so good and had a spicy kick to it. I would definitely come back for their happy hour menu which is $6 for everything including drinks. My friends raved about the lychee martinis that is on my list to try! Service was friendly but slow on a Friday night. ”
“ Shout out yelp for the coupon for a starter to which I ordered the spring rolls. Came out hot and crunchy! It was my first time trying the shrimp dumplings in the trio that were good but not as good as my newly favorite long bao dumplings(yellow tinted)! Lava cake was excellent. I demolished in about 2 min. Immediate seating, and great service. I ordered all my food at once. Mind you this was post yoga, I was hungry asf. ”
“ We went here for dinner last night and started off with the steamed dumpling trio which comes with 2 soup dumplings, 2 shrimp dumplings, and 2 shrimp shumai. The shumai were underwhelming in our opinion, but the other two were so good and flavorful. We both agreed that our entrees were so good and the portions were huge! I will definitely have to return to try the dim sum brunch! ”
“ Went for happy hour. Service was ok. Limited street parking. Food didn't really impress. Out of everything we ordered the edamame was my favorite. Next time I might stay clear of the happy hour menu. ”
“ Loved the soothing low lighting, fireplace and overall vibe. Great variety of Asian dishes from different regions, including Szechuan and Cantonese dishes. Our favorites were the steamed shrimp dumplings and steamed fish with broccoli, noodles and cilantro. Staff were friendly and helpful. Koi is located on a busy street, so arrive early to allow ample time to find parking. Download the Park Evanston app for street parking. ”
